MAG-TESTER 3000 Version 3 Software | |||||
The brand new Mag-Tester 3000 Version 3 Software is designed
to use all the power of Windows 2000 and XP operating systems, providing a
sound basis for continued Mag-Tester development for the future. Version 3
retains the familiar Mag-Tester user interface but is more flexible, more
intuitive, has many additional features and has the ability to be quickly and
reliably adapted to the ever changing needs of users.
The new Version 3 software has been developed from the
ground up using state of the art concepts and development tools and
incorporates many features developed on Barnes successful chip card software
test tools. It replaces the original ‘Industry Standard’ Mag-Tester Windows
software to ensure continued benefit from the very latest Windows® Operating
System features.
Version 3 has been shipped with all new Mag-Tester 3000 analysers since April 2006. An upgrade path is available to existing users so they may benefit from the new features provided. MT3 Version 3 -The major new features: The user interface. The improvements here are targeted at making it even easier for the user to have a quick and comprehensive understanding of any card test results. While the layout of the screen is close enough to the previous version to allow existing users to feel at home, the "look and feel" has been brought closer to Windows standards. The combined cursor and zoom and pan control has disappeared in favour of a more intuitive scroll and slider bar approach. A horizontal The thumbnail images may also be used as pan controls, clicking on the thumbnail for a display that is already in the main screen will cause the main screen to move immediately to that area of the track. The portion of track currently displayed in the main window is also indicated by a box in the thumbnail image for that display. Importantly for the USA, all the dimensional data can be displayed in inches as an alternative to metric units. The database engine. Underneath all of this the earlier database engine has been dropped and the new software uses ODBC and SQL. Gone are the proprietary database file formats, stored data is now held in "MS Access" format files which may be viewed and manipulated by standard database software. The raw data from the card tests is stored in self contained files (the format for which is described in the user manual) which makes the database itself smaller, more manageable and much faster while facilitating the easier exchange of test data between systems. It is easy to substitute any database file format for which an ODBC driver is available in cases where the user prefers not to use "MS Access" files. Test control. The tests themselves are script driven allowing quick and easy addition of new test sequences, card formats, decoding/encoding techniques, etc. Reports are generated in HTML from template, or boilerplate, files which may be edited to suit specific user needs. As standard they look similar to the reports from the earlier software, with the Barnes logo at the top of the page, but users are free to substitute their own logo if required simply by providing an image file and editing the HTML template file. The entire layout and look of any report may be customised in the same way. Reports are exportable in HTML format which is suitable for import into a wide variety of word processors and other software tools. Options - JIS 2 encoded card tests, Minicard tests : A script development option is also available for advanced users. Download Data Sheet (PDF format) |
