ICMA Expo 2024

We’re pleased to confirm that we will be attending the ICMA Expo in Orlando, Florida next month. This runs from May 13th to the 16th.

The International Card Manufacturers Association annual expo is always a key fixture on the calendars of everyone in the payment card manufacturing industry and an important one-stop shop for learning about the latest trends and technologies.

The theme this year is ‘Onward. Future-proof your card strategy’. ICMA founder and executive director Jeffrey Barnhart explains, “The theme represents the current state of the card manufacturing industry. In the face of industry disruption at every angle, including digital cards, mobile wallets and AI to name a few, the global card industry continues to move adeptly into the future. Some examples are innovation in biometrics, security features, personalization and user experience.”

In line with the theme there is a new programme this year called Production 360, which comprises of invaluable technical presentations across a range of topics, which would previously have been presented at CardTREX North America. One of these will be delivered by our CEO, Brian Summerhayes, who will be presenting on Wednesday May 15th at 2.30pm on the subject of ‘Card and Device Personalization Validation Certification’.

This will include an outline on self-testing, designed to make it easier and faster for Issuers to certify their new cards and have them ready for market.  Following the early introduction of online self-testing in 2018, a more intelligent PVT was developed in Europe in 2020, enabling cards to be tested by the Issuer or Bureau using a Certified Test Tool, submitting the results online.  A similar service is now being launched globally, making Self-Testing available in all regions soon.

In his session Brian will also be sharing how Payment Brands are beginning to use digitised test plans, making it faster to update test plans and creating a more dynamic and efficient process that can rapidly adapt to the needs of the market.

We will be manning exhibition stand #608 and have lots to talk about, including our latest software launches of the CPT personalisation tool, and will be demonstrating CPT in action.
